Premier League leaders Chelsea, one of the best soccer team in the world, will be without their star striker, Diego Costa when they travel to Leicester to take on the Foxes Saturday. Costa has been dropped from the squad due to a dust-up between him and Blues manager Antonio Conte.
According to reports, Costs got into an argument with a Chelsea trainer over an injury. This then escalated into a shouting match between him and Conte. The Telegraph has reported that an exasperated Conte shouted at Costa to “go to China!”
This was in reference to reports that Costa has been offered a $36 million a year offer from Chinese Super League club Tianjin Quanjian, because he’s one of the best soccer players. That contract would make Costa one of the highest paid footballers in the world. The current highest paid player is Carlos Tevez, who signed for Shanghai Shenhua.
Diego Costa currently leads the league in scoring with 14 goals and has been nearly unstoppable this season. Thanks to his dominance, Chelsea are currently at the top of the league with a five-point lead.
But that could all come crashing down if Costa leaves for China. Beyond his scoring, Costa has contributed to the team in so many other ways this season. He has five assists so far this season and continuously commands the attention of at least two defenders, freeing up teammates to score.
Costa has been linked with moves out of Chelsea for the last two seasons. It has been reported that he is unhappy living in London and has not assimilated well. If he does leave, Chelsea will be hard pressed to replace him and their title hopes may come crashing down.
