Cristiano Ronaldo Hits the 300 Mark

Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 300th goal for Real Madrid on Wednesday against Rayo Vallecano. The Wednesday’s score makes him the third best scorer in the club after Alfredo Di Stefano and Raul. He only needs 23 goals to beat the record set by Raul.

Though Post-Gazette says he has made only 288 appearances, he is now a legend. Analysts are of the view that he will be the new record holder of the club. His current form indicates that he is getting better each day. Furthermore, he still has some years to play.

Since he joined the club six years ago, Ronaldo has been so impressive. He has managed to help his club win almost all trophies with the latest being the European Champions League. Besides, he has won individual awards such as the FIFA Ballon d’Or awards.

It is surprising to many that though he is 30; he seems not to be fading. In fact, football pundits agree that he is far much better as compared to the club’s best such as Raul.

Though this is a great record, critics believe that Ronaldo is far away in comparison from great players like Pele and Gerd Muller, who have scored an incredible number of goals. Pele has scored more than 1000 goals, making him the world best goal scorer while Muller has scored more than 500 goals, his best being 85 goals in one season for Bayern Munich.
